(WSIL) -- A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday afternoon to celebrate the finished renovation for the Mary and George Slankard Learning Resource Center on Rend Lake College campus.
Plans to update the Learning Resource Center date back to June 2019.
The Slankard LRC improvements include a grand main entrance, outside study areas, a modern Career Technical Education Success Center and computer lab, a children’s library, a Wellness room and six state-of-the-art collaborative study rooms.
Officials say the new Resource Center is a huge asset for both the college and the community.
"Anyone in the community that lives in our district has the ability to use the services of our library and the learning resource center, so we just see this as a great asset that will promote student success but really helps enhance and even modernize learning for our student," said Rend Lake College Foundation CEO Kay Zibby-Damron.
The renovation takes into account the demands on students to collaborate and work outside the classroom together.
