Galatia teen charged with DUI after crashing a truck

SALINE CO. (WSIL) -- A teen under in the influence of alcohol crashes the truck that he was driving with another teen as the passenger.

According to a release by Illinois State Police it happened around 12:35 Saturday morning in Saline County.

The 17-year-old driver from Galatia had been going northbound on Mt. Moriah road about a half mile north of Land road.

That's when the teen failed to negotiate a curve and ran the 2009 Ford 250 off the right side of the road. The truck then overturned in a ditch.

An ambulance took the driver to a local hospital, so he could be treated for his injuries.

A 17-year-old passenger from Marion was also taken to the hospital for his injuries.

The teen driver is being charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
