(KTIV) - McDonald's says starting next month all customers will have to wear a mask when entering one of its restaurants.
The policy goes into effect on Aug. 1 at all McDonald's restaurants in the U.S.
In a statement released Friday, the company said it will also add protective panels throughout its restaurants and extend its pause of reopening additional dining rooms for another 30 days.
In addition, the company says it will provide training for restaurant staff to ensure they are prepared to address this new policy in a friendly and positive way.
According to McDonald's website, the company has over 14,000 restaurants across the country.
McDonald's is the latest national chain to require masks inside their facilities. Other major chains that are requiring customers to wear masks include Walmart, Target and Kohl's.
