Benton opens season with win at Carbondale

CARBONDALE -- The Benton Rangerettes and Carbondale Terriers took turns dominating their volleyball season opener, but the Rangerettes held on late to take a three-sets win.

The Rangerettes got rolling in the opening game, taking it 25-12.

The Terriers came out firing in game two, jumping out to 6-0 and 11-2 leads.  They took game two 25-14 to set up the decisive game three.

Benton made enough plays down the stretch to pick up the season-opening road win, 25-20 in the third.

    CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Dozens of children created unique stained glass art in Carbondale Sunday afternoon. The children use the workshop to learn how to create real art with real glass and help those in need at the same time. All proceeds from the auction end up being used to help better the lives of orphans in Bangladesh. Those selections will hang in the Longbranch Cafe, and a silent auction will run from March 10th through April 24th.
