Posted: Updated:

MARION -- Southern Illinois completed an undefeated run through the Colt World Series, beating Brownsville, Texas 3-0 to win the championship.

Brayson Shew tossed a five-hit shutout, the team's second shutout of the tournament.

Derek Williams broke up the scoreless battle with a ringing two-run double down the left field line in the top of the sixth, scoring Bryce Anderson and Brian Winters, Junior.  Austin Jerger followed with a base hit to left center to score Williams.

Shew took care of the rest with some help from his defense.  Dillon Poe and Anderson turned a nifty double play to end the game, setting off a celebration on the field.

Brownsville earned a spot in the championship game with a 6-1 win over Covina (CA) earlier in the day.

Southern Illinois finished 4-0 in the tourney.
