(WSIL) -- A photographer captured an image showing a young buck covered in tumors she saw while out in Minnesota.

Julie Carrow posted several photos of the deer to her Facebook page, asking if anything can be done to help him.

She also updated the post to say she has reached out to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and they will be in touch with her.

The Quality Deer Management Association has pictures of deer with similar growths and says they are fibromas on its website. The site notes that particularly dense fibromas can impact a deer’s eyesight, breathing, feeding or mobility, which can leave them more at risk for predators.

It also says that while they can look grotesque, unless the tumors become large enough to interfere with an animal’s sight, breathing, eating or walking, they have little impact on the individual animal and thus, little or no impact on the deer population.

According to the website, deer with fibromas are still safe for human consumption.
