Wild take care of the Peppers

Posted: Updated:

MARION -- The Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois rallied to beat the Aussie Peppers 4-1 to take the series three games to one.

The Peppers jumped on top with a run in the first.  The Wild did all their damage in the fourth.

With runners on second and third, Joey Lye got a squeeze bunt down to score Larisa Franklin with the tying run.  Lye was safe at first on the play.  After Lye stole second, Victoria Hayward delivered a laser to left center that wound up as a 2-RBI triple, giving the Wild their first lead of the night. Kelsey Jenkins followed with a sacrifice fly to score Hayward, giving the Wild a 4-1 lead.

Danielle Lawrie came on and delivered three scoreless innings of relief to finish off the win.

The Wild improve to 20-17 on the season.  They are off Friday before opening their final series of the regular season against the Cleveland Comets.  That game will be played at SIU Saturday at 6:05.
