Woman arrested for attempted kidnappings caught on camera

ATLANTA (WSIL) -- A parent's worst nightmare played out twice for one family at the busiest airport in the world.

A 26-year-old woman attempted to grab two children at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport early Saturday, and it was all caught on camera.

Surveillance video from the airport's atrium shows Esther Daniels-- the woman in the pink hat-- walk over and put her hands on a stroller with a child in it.

The child's mother manages to fend Daniels off. Daniels then notices one of the woman's other children standing nearby. She picks him up, but the father steps in quickly, and wrestles the boy away from the woman.

An officer comes running over and chases Daniels, as she runs away. Officers struggle with Daniels, but manage to get her on the ground and arrest her. The officer said Daniels appeared "to be experiencing mental distress."

She was taken to a local hospital to be checked out before being transported to the county jail. Daniels is charged with kidnapping and obstructing an officer.

More than 107 million passengers flew through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport last year, making it the busiest passenger airport in the world for the 21st year in a row according to the Airports Council International's preliminary world traffic report.
