Resource officer will return to Frankfort School District

Posted: Updated:

WEST FRANKFORT (WSIL) -- West Frankfort city leaders will keep a resource officer on the Frankfort School District's campuses.

Back in January, the council approved a resource officer for school district until the end of the year.

During Tuesday night's city council meeting, leaders decided to start a new contract with the school resource officer for the next three years.

Mayor Tom Jordan said the Frankfort school board approved the agreement during a meeting on Monday night.

The officer currently makes $18 an hour and in this new contract, the officer will receive a 50-cent increase each year.
