Marion falls to Cape Notre Dame again

Posted: Updated:

MARION -- Cape Notre Dame beat Marion for the second time in five days, winning on the road 4-1.

The Bulldogs beat the Wildcats to capture the championship at the Fralish Cup Saturday in Carbondale.

Notre Dame led 1-0 at the half, but Marion scored the equalizer just 3:31 into the second half thanks to future Saluki Blake Clark's gorgeous set up for Nicole Szidik who scored.

The Bulldogs countered by scoring on a pair of corner kicks.  Kristin Tarno's lefty boot put ND up 2-1.  Seven minutes later Livia Wunderlich set up Megan Heisserer to make it a 3-1 game.  Heisserer later added a penalty kick to complete the hat trick.  She scored the only goal in the first half.

Cape ND improves to 13-1-1.  Marion falls to 12-4.
