Nursing student shaves head for cancer awareness

Posted: Updated:

WSIL -- A nursing student is saying goodbye to her hair for a good cause.

This Friday, Sara Simpson plans to shave her head at Roxana Central Intermediate School. Her and another teacher, Carol Fletcher, will both do it during a school-wide assembly to represent everyone who was diagnosed with cancer and is battling a fight they didn't ask for. Both are part of a group called Jeremiah's Team, who was a former student of Fletcher's. Sara chose to represent an eight-year-old who passed away named Ella.

This also a fundraising effort for Sara. To learn more about Ella's story where you can donate click here.
