Chester wraps up first basketball conference championship in style

Posted: Updated:

CHESTER -- It's been a history making season for the Chester boys basketball team.  The Yellow Jackets have already set a school record for wins, including the first Chester Invitational Tournament title since 1976.

The Jackets wrapped up the first conference championship in school history by pummeling Sesser-Valier 79-48 to complete a clean sweep of the Black Diamond-West.  The Red Devils could've grabbed a share of the conference championship with a win.  Instead, Chester celebrated an outright finished 12-0 in conference play.

Colin Wingerter led the Yellow Jackets with 20.  Keith Kiner III added 19.

Chester improves to 25-5 and will host a 2A regional this week.

Sesser-Valier falls to 22-6.  The Red Devils will host a 1A regional this week.

***Highlights of Marion's win over Carbondale also included in the video clip.
