Salem wins Johnston City girls bowling regional

CARTERVILLE -- The Salem Wildcats posted three of the top five individual scores and cruised to the Johnston City Girls Bowling Regional championship.

Salem finished 376 pins in front of another group of Wildcats, these from Anna-Jonesboro.  Harrisburg and Herrin also qualified as teams for next week's Carterville Sectional.

Salem's Kayla Smith was the top individual scorer by 207 pins.  Four of Smith's six games were 246 or more (255, 267, 268, 246).

The ten highest scores not on the four qualifying teams also earned a trip to the sectional next week.  Those qualifiers are Ella Summerlin (Carbondale), Jenna Dobbs (Mt. Vernon), Grace Dodd (Johnston City), Paige Troutt (Massac Co.), Kelsee Dodd (Johnston City), Alex Swafford (Massac Co.), Kaylee Lemons (Mt. Vernon), Diana Ward (Mt. Vernon), Taylor Henson (Centralia), and Kaylee Fraser (Massac Co.).
