Fletcher's big night leads SIU past Indiana State

CARBONDALE -- SIU put together its best offensive game of the season to roll past Indiana State 88-73 to close out the first half of the Missouri Valley Conference season.

The Salukis blistered the Arena nets with 61 percent shooting, including 69 percent in the second half.  Armon Fletcher led the way with a career high 34 points.  Fletcher was 11-14 from the field, including 6-8 from three-point range.  He also hit all six of his free throw attempts.

Three more Salukis finished in double figures with Aaron Cook scoring 14 to go along with seven assists.  Kavion Pippen stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, five assists, four rebounds, four steals, and three blocks.  Eric McGill did his share of stuffing as well, finishing with ten points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

Tyreke Key led Indiana State with 25, while Jordan Barnes scored 20.

SIU improves to 11-11, 4-5 in the MVC.  The Salukis are tied for sixth in the league, but only a game out of third.  Indiana State falls to 11-10 (3-6).

The Dawgs will hit the road for their next two, starting Saturday afternoon at Bradley.
