Salukis drop fourth straight in loss to Braves

Posted: Updated:

CARBONDALE -- The Basketball Salukis fall at home to the Bradley Braves 57-54, despite leading for nearly the entire game.

The Salukis rode a 14-1 run at the end of the 1st half to take a 26-20 lead at the break, and then would hold that lead for much of the 2nd half, until late when the Braves made a push, and secured their first conference win of the season.

"That's what the Valley is going to be this year, just grinding out games. You'll see some droughts, in every game I've watched, every team has offensive droughts. you just got to buckle down, and keep the runs minimal, stay in the game, and we were able to do that, and make a run in the last five minutes," said Bradley head basketball coach Brian Wardle.

"We didn't turn the ball over today. We possessed a great value of the basketball today, great possession. I think our Achilles today was offensive rebounding, they had too many offensive rebounds, and they scored points off of offensive putbacks," said SIU head basketball coach Barry Hinson.

Salukis look to bounce back Wednesday when they welcome the UNI Panthers.
