SESSER, Ill. -- Coal Street at the railroad crossing in Sesser will be closed for at least a day as investigators try to determine why a man was walking across the tracks as a train was approaching. The man was hit just before 7 p.m. Monday, but is expected to recover.

The man was airlifted to a hospital, but police tell News 3 he is expected to be okay. Police say the conductor stopped after the train hit the man who was walking across the tracks.

We will update this story when we get more information.
