Gov. Rauner visits Harrisburg on campaign tour across Illinois

HARRISBURG, Ill. -- Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti campaigned in Harrisburg as part of a bus tour across the state.

The Governor spoke to a crowd of about 100 people at the Saline County Republican Party office, trying to get his base excited before Election Day.

Rauner is engaged in a tough reelection battle, where polls show him down about 20 points to Democrat JB Pritzker. 

Before the rally Rauner sat down with News 3 on his campaign bus, calling this the most important election in Illinois history.

"This election is not about Democrats versus Republicans," Rauner said. "It's about all of us as the citizens of Illinois standing up to corruption, tax hikes, self-dealing that Pritzker and Madigan are part of. We got to get out and vote we've got to save our state."

Governor Rauner will continue his tour tomorrow, going to the SIU football game and then heading to eastern Illinois.
