Building collapse in Christopher

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE ON 11/1/18:

CHRISTOPHER, Ill. -- A family of three, living inside the building, escaped unharmed, but are now left without a home.

"That's always a scary part about it you know they had a baby with them," said Christopher Fire Chief, Ron Learned.

Learned says he is thankful no one was hurt during the incident, but is sad for the loss the fire created in the community.

"When something goes completely down you'll wonder if it would ever be put back in what manner it would be put back in," said Learned.

The family of three lost all of their personal items in the fire. If you want to donate to the family you can do so by clicking here.

The Fire Marshal has been called to investigate the incident. Christopher's Fire Chief says the fire does not appear to be arson.
