CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A man on parole for an attempted bank robbery in 2012 is in jail again for another robbery.

36-year-old Darrell Hendricks is accused of robbing the First-Mid Illinois Bank inside Schnuck's.

Police say they received a report around 5 p.m. Monday evening of a bank robbery in progress. Hendricks is accused of demanding money from the tellers then running away. He was arrested a short time later.

"Employees gave us a description of the suspect and within less than 3 minutes Carbondale Police officers had responded on scene, they had identified or had located the suspect nearby, positively identified him as a suspect and had him in custody," said Dave Kemp of the Carbondale Police Department.

Hendricks was arrested without incident after being found with the stolen money in his possession and taken to the Jackson County Jail. Police say no one was hurt.

The Jackson County State's Attorneys Office says Hendricks was charged with one count of Financial Institution Robbery. A charge that carries a potential sentence of 6-30 years in prison.

In March of 2012, Hendricks showed a knife and demanded money in a failed hold-up attempt at the Bank of Carbondale.
