Woman found guilty of setting hotel fire

Posted: Updated:

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. -- A jury says a Christopher woman is guilty of arson after setting a hotel fire in December 2015.

Adriane Parke was found guilty of aggravated arson following a two day jury trial this week.

Prosecutors had said Parke set a fire inside the Drury Hotel in Mt. Vernon.

She worked there at the time as a housekeeper. Officers arrested her in early January 2016 and charged her with arson and criminal damage to property.

Investigators say the flames prompted 60 people to evacuate the hotel.

Parke will be sentenced on November 8.
