Group meets to get input on renewable energy policy

Posted: Updated:

CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- A coalition of groups promoting clean energy asks southern Illinoisans for input.

Representatives from the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition met with people at John A. Logan College Wednesday.

They gave people surveys, hoping to gain some insight on how people view renewable energy sources.

Christina Krost is with Faith In Place, one of the groups within the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition.

She said input from people here matters because of how important coal is to the region.

"They want to know how they can transition into other jobs like solar and wind as we move forward, so we're trying to get some policies forward to help them do that," Krost said.

The coalition works with lawmakers to guide their policies on energy.

It's holding several meetings like the one at John A. Logan College all over the state.
