Gastropub to open in Carbondale

Posted: Updated:

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- A short-lived popular gastropub in Carbondale is returning and owners say they will be better suited to meet the demand next week.

Keepers Quarters will open Tuesday, October 16 at 11 a.m. at 817 S. Illinois Avenue (formerly Kaya). The name may sound familiar to you because the owners tested the waters this summer and were met with overwhelming support.

Chef and owner, Doug Robinson explains that he and his brother, Eric, were blown away by the demand for their restaurant, "This came as a whim. We rented out Key West for 5 weeks, and we grew out of it in that time. It really took us all by surprise."

Doug and his brother, Eric, have been renovating the restaurant for the last three months and are counting down to the Grand Opening October 16.

"We are really excited about how Carbondale has received us," said Robinson, "When we opened, it was well-received and a very pleasant surprise."
