Posted: Updated:

WSIL -- The Carbondale Civic Center is going to the dogs Saturday. The City of Carbondale is hosting the "Purrrfect Pet Expo" on Saturday, October 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Civic Center.

The Expo will feature the latest pet products, services, hands-on demonstrations, live entertainment, plus an opportunity to adopt a furry family member for those who are looking.

Admission is $3 per person, but children ages 12 and under are free. Bring a donation of any pet supply for free admission. Pets are welcome with rules at the bottom of this article.

All proceeds from the event will benefit participating rescues and shelters.

Shelters & Rescues
Thinking of adding a new family member? You can meet with rescues on-site and learn more about the adoption process.

Curious about the best food for your pet's unique needs? How do you find the right dog trainer? Chat with experts in pet care and services from all fields.

Service dog demonstrations, best dressed pets and puppy snuggling are scheduled events.

PETS ARE WELCOME! (As long as you abide by the following rules:)

  • Your pet must be current on all age-appropriate shots. These immunization requirements only apply to dogs and cats. A rabies tag with the year stamped is acceptable as proof of vaccinations, as are blood titer results for those pet parents who don't immunize annually.
  • Dogs must be on a fixed lead, no longer than 6 feet, at all times.
  • Only bring your pet along if it is well behaved, non-aggressive and doesn't get stressed out in crowded, stimulating and noisy situations.
  • You'll be required to sign a pet waiver at the entrance.
