New locally-owned toy store opens for business

Posted: Updated:

MARION, Ill. -- A new local business is now open in Marion, and it may help fill the hole left by the closing of Toys "R" Us.

The store, Jack and Josie's, is now open on North Carbon Street. The store was made with children in mind, and sells toys, candy, ice cream and fudge.

Staff hope the treats, seating area, and interactive play zone will make visiting a great experience for children.

The owner, Brandon Chaplain, says the store was made with kids in mind specifically, his kids.

"So the inspiration behind the toy store was, and is definitely our children which is why we named it after them. Ever since we've had them, we've been looking into it and we just thought right now was a great time to try to open it up and try it out," Chaplain said.

Jack and Josie's is next door to and actually connected to Steven's Floral Gifts and Framing because both stores have the same local owners.

The store is officially open, but the grand opening is scheduled for October 20th, once they are fully stocked.
