CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Crews are expecting to close one lane on eastbound Route 13 in Carbondale Friday morning to work near the railroad crossing.

One crew member on scene told News 3 that workers are planning to bore beneath the road to run a new power cable to a nearby railroad box.

No detours have been announced.

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Drivers in Carbondale will want to take another route across town on Friday.

That's because eastbound Illinois 13 (Walnut Street) at the railroad crossing will close at 7 a.m. September 21 for repairs.

Work is expected to be complete by 7 p.m. that evening.

Nearly two weeks ago, the westbound lanes were closed as crews repaired the railroad.

At that time, the official detour (mainly for semi-truck drivers) consisted of taking Route 51 to De Soto, then taking Route 149 to Zeigler, then taking Route 148 south back to Route 13.
