CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Runners and walkers ages 3 to 82 took the streets to help raise money for orphans and students in India.
The 8th Annual For Kids' Sake Superhero 5K raised $41,000, more than any previous For Kids' Sake event.
All proceeds will provide life-saving resources to 550 orphans and 4,000 students in Bangladesh.

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The 8th Annual Superhero 5K is returning to Turley Park in Carbondale this October.
This year, the Superhero 5K will be on a Saturday morning, October 6 at 9:30 a.m. for the first time. Participants are encouraged to come before the race and stay after to listen to a live DJ, check out local vendors, enjoy kids' activities like a 30 ft. rock-climbing wall and face painting.
Organizers of the race say all money from registration and fundraising will go to help save the lives of children in Bangladesh. They say the $20 registration fee alone will feed 57 children a nutritious meal, and $300 will provide a child with all of his/her basic needs for six months.
