Man faces murder charges after shooting his brother

JEFFERSON CO., Ill. -- A Mt. Vernon man faces murder charges after investigators say he shot his brother.

It happened around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 9800 block of E. Webb Road.

Deputies got a 911 call from a woman who said her husband had been shot by Matthew Sloan.

Investigators identified the victim as David Sloan, 34, of Mt. Vernon.

Multiple agencies are still investigating.

Online court records show Matthew Sloan faces three counts of murder.

He appeared in court Thursday via video conference and is being held on $3 million bond.

Sloan is due back in court August 1 for a preliminary hearing.
