Mt. Vernon man arrested for felony theft

MT. VERNON, Ill. -- A man who was just five months ago nominated by neighbors to be a WSIL "Unsung Hero", is now being charged with felony theft.

Earlier this week, the Mt. Vernon Police Department arrested William "Bill" Norton, the manager of the Mt. Vernon Christian Outreach Resale Shop.

Investigators say Norton took merchandise and funds from the business. Norton was released on a bond. 

Mt. Vernon investigation department is looking into whether there were more people involved in the theft. 

As of now, there is no information on how much money was stolen.
