Vienna's Fourth of July celebration backup plan

Posted: Updated:

VIENNA, Ill. -- Nearly two dozen towns across southern Illinois will hold a Fourth of July celebration this week and some have backup plans in case potential storms create challenges.

Vienna is one of those cities that will push their fireworks show back in the event of potential storms causing challenges.

"We will not have it tomorrow night, we'll have it Thursday night," said Vienna Mayor Jon Simmons.

The events will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Vienna Ball Park, with everything from live music to fireworks.

"It's a big thing for our community, its one of the bigger things we have in our community," Simmons said. "We'll have a bigger crowd at our Fourth of July than we do at anything in our city."
