Wild Things outlast Miners in a pitcher's duel

Posted: Updated:

MARION - After being swept by Joliet, the Southern Illinois Miners were looking to get back on track.  They welcomed the top team in the Eastern division, the Washington Wild Things, to Rent One Park.

Washington got on the board quickly with a run in the top of the first.

But after that, Geno Encina handled things on the mound.  Encina pitched seven innings allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out nine.

His counter part Thomas Dorminy was just a little bit better.  Dorminy pitched eight innings of shut-out baseball allowing just two hits.

The Wild Things win it 1-0.
