Father's Day Spending

Posted: Updated:

WSIL -- Father's Day is this Sunday, June 17, and according to a newly released survey, people are expected to spend a near record $15.3 billion.

According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), rising consumer confidence is the reason why. Americans spent $15.5 billion last year, setting a record.

The NRF says it found 77% of Americans will celebrate the holiday, and the biggest spenders are between the ages of 25 and 34. Those people will spend an average of $188 per person. According to the survey, clothing, gift cards, and consumer electronics are the most popular gifts.

So if you haven't already purchased a gift from dad, you still have time.
