Vienna's Wildcat Cemetery Vandalized

Posted: Updated:

VIENNA, Ill. -- The Johnson County Board of Commissioners plan to discuss recent vandalism at a cemetery in Vienna.

Vienna resident, Theresa Gray, regularly visits Wildcat Cemetery to pay respect to her family members, some that she's never met, "My great grandfather is buried here, he was a civil war soldier. My grandparents and some of my great grandfather's sons are here too."

While laying flowers, about a week before Memorial Day, Gray noticed several headstones and a monument knocked over.

"I was just sick," Gray said. "I was just absolutely sick to see the destruction."

In all, seven headstones and monuments have been tipped over.

The Johnson County Board of Commissioners plan to discuss the issue at their next meeting on June 12th.
