WSIL-TV - A southern Illinois tradition that's been going on for more than 70 years, is now underway in Downtown West Frankfort.

Hundreds of people were out for the first day of this year's Old King Coal Festival in West Frankfort Thursday.

The event, meant to celebrate the rich history the coal industry has in the community, includes rides, games, and other fun activities for the whole family.

The festival will run through Sunday with live music every day and includes a parade on Saturday.
