Man attempts to abduct teen in Carbondale

CARBONDALE -- Police are on the lookout for a man investigators say tried to abduct a teenage girl.

It happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday on East College Street near The Fields Apartments.

Police say the man called out to the victim and when she ignored him--he ran across the street and grabbed her around the waist.

The victim was able to wiggle free and run home to call police. 

Police say the suspect is a male possibly in his mid-40s with blond hair and green eyes. He had a “scruffy” blond beard and spoke with a southern accent. He was last seen wearing a long sleeved black shirt, blue jeans, and Timberland boots. He also carried a wallet with a chain attached.
