Firefighters contain 90-acre blaze near Shawnee National Forest

Fire officials tell us the blaze, which burned 90 acres, has been contained. 

ORIGINAL STORY:

HARRISBURG, Ill. - Shawnee National Forest firefighters are on the scene of a 40-acre wildfire in Alexander County. 

The wildfire started on Illinois state-owned land, but could spread to private land and/or national forest lands.

The fire is located near Reiman Road, west of State Highway 3 in Alexander County. People may notice smoke while traveling State Highway 3 and smoke may be visible for hours after the wildfire is contained.
