Support group organized for those grieving miscarriage

Posted: Updated:

WEST FRANKFORT -- A local woman is starting a support group for women who might be dealing with infertility or have experienced a miscarriage.

According to the American Pregnancy Association, between 10 to 25 percent of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage.

'Glory Babies' is a support group for women who have lost a child or are struggling to conceive. The group's coordinator saw a need in her community after she experienced a loss.

"It's difficult, and its hard but I'm here for you. There were so many women during my loss, that when we moved back to southern Illinois, I just wanted other women in this community to know that there is a place for them," said Stephanie Lewis.

The support group starts Tuesday and will continue on the second Tuesday of each month at the First Christian Church in West Frankfort. The group can be contacted through Facebook or at southernillinoisglorybabies@gmail.com
