Thousands turn out for exotic pet expo in Mt. Vernon

Posted: Updated:

MT. VERNON -- Parrots, snakes, iguanas and other exotic animals were for sale to good homes this weekend in Mt. Vernon at an exotic pets expo.

Around a dozen vendors set up to show off the unique animals and sell accessories to go with each pet.

Organizer Judy Crask said they crossed their fingers for a good turnout, but were overjoyed with the success they had this weekend.

"It's unreal the response we've had this weekend," she said. "We had over 1,100 people on Saturday."

This was the first year for the event.

Since this show was such a hit, Crask said she hopes to have another show like it in the coming months.
