Marion businesses to hold charity yard sale

MARION -- Businesses in Marion are coming together to hold a charity yard sale Saturday.

Celia Robertson, the managing broker at House 2 Home Realty, had a vision to start a charity yard sale last year. Now, her team is preparing for their second one.

"We don't tag anything, we ask you to donate what you feel you can give," Robertson said. "It's just great for our community."

Robertson teamed up with Black Diamond to hold a yard sale at the Black Diamond Warehouse on Saturday, April 14th from from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds go toward local charities.

"The warehouse is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. every night and you can just come by and drop off your items," Robertson said. "We have a bucket that you can put it in St. Jude, or Habitat for Humanity or the food pantries."

A team of volunteers, who also work as brokers, are hoping to get rid of every single item to help those in need.

"We're so fortunate to be in Marion and be in southern Illinois," said Megan Webb, a broker and volunteer. "All of our brokers live and work in this community so anything we can do to give back, it makes us feel good and it does good in the community."

Last year they raised more than $3,000. This year they're hoping to at least double that.

"We have some good generous people that live in southern Illinois that are willing to help and hopefully they all come to our yard sale," Robertson said.
