Fahima Paghmani joined WSIL News 3 as a reporter in March 2018.

Fahima is thrilled to call Southern Illinois home. She is focused on telling stories that impact the community.

Fahima was born in Afghanistan and came to the United States when she was three years old. Her parents, both Afghans, gave up everything to move Fahima and her siblings to have a better future.

Growing up in an immigrant family in San Diego, California, watching the news with her father was an integral part of her day. Her dad's facial expression while watching the news made Fahima realize how important it is to inform people everyday.

Fahima became an accomplished investigative reporter at 9 years old by figuring out who stole candy from the treasure box in her fifth grade class. But on the professional level, she earned a San Diego Press Club Award for reporting.

Fahima earned a mass communication degree from San Diego State University and a minor in Journalism.

After college, she worked for KUSI-TV as an assignment editor and news writer.

Most recently, Fahima worked as a reporter for Channel 8 Eyewitness News KLKN-TV in Lincoln, Nebraska. She spent two years there, so she's no stranger to severe weather.

She speaks three languages fluently including, English, Pashto, Farsi, and she's conversational in Urdu. She has a passion for learning and she plans to learn Telegu. Fahima says it's so she can communicate with her Vijayawada friend; Chhote Kela.

In her spare time, Fahima enjoys shopping, dining out, hiking, painting, watching movies, and most importantly spending time with her family.

If you have any restaurant or story suggestions email her at fpaghmani@wsiltv.com. She's quick to reply so she'll always respond to your email.
