Job Search Party returns to Mt. Vernon

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Monday, April 9, 2018 - There are now 44 employers scheduled to attend this event!

MT. VERNON -- Job seekers are invited to the seventh annual Job Search Party, hosted by Rend Lake College, from 3 – 6 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at the Doubletree in Mt. Vernon. The free event will bring potential employees in front of a variety of employers.

Attendees looking for employment should come dressed for success, have plenty of copies of their resume, and be ready and willing to have conversations with potential employers from throughout the Southern Illinois region about career opportunities. A full list of employers committed to date is listed below, with several more expected to attend.

Jo Ann Dick, RLC Coordinator of Special Projects, suggested job seekers should take time to prepare before the Job Search Party.

“This event provides job seekers an opportunity to make a great first impression with employers,” she said. “Preparation is important, make certain that résumés are current and do a little research on the companies you are interested in speaking with at the Job Search Party.”

Door prizes for attendees will be drawn on the half hour during the event. A children’s activity area will also be provided courtesy of RLC Project CHILD, which will include coloring, story time, and more. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Members of Project CHILD will also be on-hand to offer information for referral services.

The event is sponsored by RLC, WSIL-TV 3, Withers Broadcasting Companies, and Dana Communications Corp. For more information about the Job Search Party, contact Jo Ann Dick at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1337 or dickj@rlc.edu.
