International tribunal prosecutor presents at SIU Law School

CARBONDALE -- The SIU Law School hosted a special lecture Tuesday with guest speaker and Chicago-Native Adam Weber.

Weber started his career as a prosecutor in Chicago before becoming an international tribunal prosecutor.

From 2008 to 2018, Weber worked with the United Nations-backed International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in the Netherlands. His work included successful prosecution of senior political, police and military officials.

Weber highlighted the importance of international criminal justice during his presentation.

"Hopefully it provides a shining example that if the international community wants to collectively get together and hold people accountable for these mass atrocities, that we're able to do so," Weber told News 3 during an interview.

This lecture marks the 21st presentation in the series established in 1992 to honor founding Dean Hiram H. Lesar.

Israel Burtis, Human Resource said, "There's a fast demand in the coal mines for coal miners right now and coal mines are continuing to grow back again."
