Benefit for family of Shawnee College student killed in crash

Posted: Updated:

ANNA -- Loved ones of former Shawnee College student, Gabby Gwodzik, who was killed in a car crash last month, are coming together to support her family.

They're holding a fundraising dinner on March 24th at the VFW in Anna. There will live music, a silent auction and a gun raffle.

Friends and family describe 19-year-old Gabby as a "sweetheart."

"We weren't able to afford the cost of the funeral, so now we are trying to raise up the money to finish paying off the funeral home and a couple other bills that she had owed," said Robyn Karnes, a family friend of Gabby. "That's all we're asking for, to come out and support, and help us in our time of need."

The event will start at 3 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. Organizers say all are welcome.
