Lanes of I-57 reopened after semi crash

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- Illinois State Police say nobody gut hurt in the crash.

The semi driver says a mechanical issue caused him to lose control and flip the semi on its side.

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- Illinois State Police say the semi has been cleared from the scene.

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- Illinois State Police say both lanes of Interstate 57 are open after a semi crash.

However, those lanes are being diverted onto the shoulder, so drivers are being asked to be careful.

Crews are working to remove the semi from the median.

We still have no word on any injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- One northbound lane of interstate 57 is back open after the semi crash. Traffic is moving slowly but there is still some congestion.

***ORIGINAL STORY: Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 5:45 a.m. ***

FRANKLIN COUNTY -- The West Frankfort Police Department is reporting a semi crash has closed the northbound lanes of interstate 57.

They say it happened around 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning just south of the West Frankfort exit. 

No word on any injuries at this time, but both northbound lanes are blocked, and traffic is being diverted at the Johnston City exit. 

Illinois State Police and the West Frankfort Fire Department have both responded.

We'll update you as we learn more information.
