Carbondale library screens Indie Lens Pop-Up film highlighting HBCUs

Posted: Updated:

CARBONDALE -- The Carbondale Public Library teams up with WSIU to host a series of Indie Lens Pop-Up films.

The initiative is created to bring people together for film screenings and community-driven conversations. On Sunday, they showed "Tell Them We Are Rising," a film that explores the role historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) played in American history.

After the film, attendees participated in a discussion with community members and SIUC professors.

Meridian High School will screen the film on February 14th for about 200 students, organizers said.
