CARTERVILLE -- Over the weekend, News 3 This Morning anchor Kevin Hunsperger found himself in quite a spot at a professional wrestling show. Kevin is the ring announcer for the Marion-based Stride Pro Wrestling.
At the end of Saturday night's show on the campus of John A. Logan College in Carterville, Kevin was grabbed by wrestler Roger Matheus. He was angry over being left out of a championship match against Jay Spade. Matheus threw Kevin into the ring and then hoisted the morning anchor onto his shoulders. But before any more damage could be done, the 400-pound Bull Bronson made the save.
Kevin tumbled out of the ring and to the floor of the gym and scurried to safety. This has now set up a match between Bronson and Matheus on March 3 at Christopher Grade School. That wrestling event is a fundraiser for the school.
