Aaron Cook's career night leads SIU past Indiana State

CARBONDALE - The basketball Salukis won their fifth straight against Indiana State on Wednesday night.

The first half belonged to the Dawgs.  Southern outscored the Sycamores 41-29 in the opening half.

Aaron Cook did his part in the opener putting up 18 of his team-high 25 before the break.

Southern led by as many as 13 before Indiana State rallied.  Seven times they pulled within five and made it a two-point game with 22 seconds to play.

The Salukis held on from the free throw line to win it 82-77.

In addition to Cook's 25, Armon Fletcher scored 17.

SIU returns to action Saturday when they travel on Missouri State.

    CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Carbondale Police are investigating a deadly accident that happened in the 500 block of North Wall around 8 p.m. Monday evening. Witnesses and family members tell us a driver hit and killed a five-year-old boy.  Police expect to release more information Tuesday.
