Sikeston police investigate hit and run

Posted: Updated:

SIKESTON, MO – Police say a woman suffered serious internal injuries after a hit and run on Friday night.

Sikeston Police say they responded to a call about a disoriented woman in a parking lot on Rose Parkway around 6:45 p.m.

The woman was transported by EMS to a local hospital.

Meanwhile, officers checked the area and found the woman’s car, which was broken down on the side of State Highway ZZ, about a mile away.

The hospital told officers the woman had serious internal injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Lt. Austin Henley, with Sikeston Police, said officers located evidence along State Highway ZZ, which suggested she may have been struck by a vehicle while walking along that roadway.

“At this time, no driver or vehicle has been identified in this incident. We are requesting assistance to help locate the driver in this incident,” said Henley. “There were several vehicles on this roadway at the time of the incident, so we are hoping someone saw what happened.”

The victim remains hospitalized in serious, but stable condition.

Anyone with information is urged to call Sikeston Police at 573-471-4711.
