Prosecutor: Employee stole $500,000 from employer

WSIL -- A Benton man now faces federal fraud charges for stealing more than $500,000 from his employer.

The U.S. Attorney charged Cary E. Mosley, 48, of Benton with six counts each of wire and mail fraud.

Investigators say Mosley altered documents while working as the manager of Southern Illinois Healthcare's Radiation Oncology Department.

At the same time Mosley worked for the Tennessee based company Q.E.D. Medical Physics, Inc.

Prosecutors say Mosley falsified Q.E.D. records for work he didn't actually complete. Q.E.D then submitted invoices to SIH based on the false information.

The scheme went on from December 2006 to July 2013. Investigators say Mosley took in more than $500,000 during that time.

He's due in court Jan. 16 to be formally charged.
