"Christmas at the Cross" celebration

Posted: Updated:

ALTO PASS -- Folks gathered at Bald Knob Cross for an afternoon of music and fellowship for the "Christmas at the Cross" celebration Sunday.

That's where they had music, food and even some dancing going. The Smoky Hollow String Band was there, playing Christmas carols and traditional fiddle and banjo songs.

Executive Director Teresa Gilbert said their mission is to provide a place for folks to gather for worship.

"It's really just an opportunity as we enter into the Christmas season and first of all experience the grounds at Bald Knob Cross and all that Bald Knob offers, but also just the sights and smells and experience the season," Gilbert said.

Bald Knob Cross was completed in 1963. When illuminated at night, it can be seen over 75-hundred square miles.
