Fujiyama in Carbondale hit with several violations

Posted: Updated:

WSIL -- Eleven violations have been found at this week's low scoring restaurant. The Jackson County inspector gave Fujiyama's Japanese Steakhouse in Carbondale a 75.

Three critical violations were found. Five points were taken away because rice and noodles were not being stored cool enough. Those items ended up in the trash. Employees were found using their cell phones in the kitchen, that was also a five point loss. In one case, a phone was found in broccoli. The final critical violation was a four point loss because some dishes and utensils were not being cleaned properly.

Benton's Pizza Hut received an 89 from the Franklin County inspector. None of those violations were critical. Most were cleaning problems. Walls, the floor and utensils needed to be cleaned better according to the inspection report.

The Jefferson County inspector found one critical violation at Bugsy's Chicago Dog in Mt. Vernon. The spot received a 93. Management was told a hand sink needed to be added to the employee restroom. That was a four point loss.

Midland Inn in Murphysboro got a 95 from the Jackson County inspector. Nothing critical found there, but some cleaning problems were noted too. A trash can was also missing from the ladies restroom.

Pookie's Beer, Burgers & Bocce in Marion received a 96. An overstock of cups and chips were found on the floor, that's a two point loss.
